Anacapa Island is part of Channel Islands National Park off of Ventura County, California. The Channel Islands have been referred to as the Galapagos of the United States because of their isolation from the mainland. Western Gulls nest on Anacapa Island from the end of April through July, sometimes making their shallow nests just inches from island trails. They thrive on the Island because of the relative lack of predators.
