In olden days, Rajputana queens were not allowed to appear in public. So windows were made in palaces where they could watch public proceedings from behind the windows and yet not be seen. Ornately sculpted on sandstone and coloured with natural dyes,, they represent the traditional artwork of Rajasthan.
