Nesting material delivery

5 years, 2 months

Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve, Newfoundland is very challenging to isolate one bird bringing in nesting material and dense fog is present 80% of the time. I like the challenge of backlighting a subject, a little luck was on my side this perfect summer day. Thanks to the efforts of the ecological reserve this gannet colony is thriving and increasing in size each year. It is now listed as the second largest in the world with over 24,000 nesting pairs.
