"Don't Talk to Strangers!"

5 years, 4 months

Living in a remote howler-monkey habitat of Guanacaste Costa Rica, I mastered the language of howlers faster than I learned to speak Spanish! One troop watched over me, and the young howlers 'taught' me their favorite lines! When I return to that area and chatter with the young ones, they usually come close - as if to ask, 'Who taught you how to say that?!" The adults are not as trusting and often scold them: "Didn't we teach you not to talk to strangers?"
