Oni-daiko/ Ondeko in Japan

Japanese folk performing arts ‘Oni-daiko’ refers to ‘Demon drums’, which locally known as ‘Ondeko’. During Ondeko, the performers wear dress and masks like ‘Oni’ that is monster. The aspect of the performance is dance with huge and continuous beat of Japanese ‘Taiko / Tailko’ drum. The purpose of this traditional performing art is to drive away evil spirits and to bring fortune. The ‘Ondeko’ generally perform in harvesting time.
