Parent and Child Spoonbills

3 months

Spoonbills nest high in trees despite being waders. They can have more than one chick but this parent (in the light) seemed to only have one. It was keeping an eye on its offspring below from a small distance. Probably because as soon as it sat next to its chick, the youngster would pester the parent for food. The parent in this image is probably waiting for the return of its partner with food to fly off in search of extra sustenance.
