The last branch

9 months, 2 weeks

I have followed a mating pair of Barred owls for a few years now. This past year I was lucky enough to witness all four of their Owlets leaving the nest. In the case of this Owlet it was pushed by one of it's siblings. Only a few feet from hitting the ground it managed to catch this single branch. The branch being very thin wasn't fully able to support it's weight. so the Owlet hung there bouncing up and down for a few minutes trying to figure out what to do next.
