Today is my 39th birthday, and all I asked of my husband and boys was a ride through my favorite country roads to see if we could spot any whitetail deer. When I saw how the light fell across this doe’s face, I had to stop and photograph her. She didn’t budge as I opened the door, took a few shots, closed the door, and drove on. Only as we left did I see why she was so firm in her stare. She was guarding two new fawns. I couldn’t resist pulling up the blacks and converting her to black and white
