Story time

1 year, 3 months

The Mentawai tribe live deep in the rainforests of Siberut of the Mentawai chain of Islands in Indonesia. This a frame I capture when the elder is talking and telling stories to the children.

It's so nice to see an intergenerational portrait of people far away and living in the rainforests. They are so beautiful and the young ones are listening...we hope. Tradition being passed down in fragile cultures like this one is critical in keeping the earth diversified and healthy. A wonderful story, an everyday scene, beautiful lighting, moody but not dark.
