Galah (Rose Breasted) Cockatoo

1 year

I feel a great connection with the animals I photograph, many of which are endangered. This is a part of a series of animal portraits where I utilize lighting and focus on the eyes to emphasize this connection and to show them at their most beautiful. I love searching for and finding moments when the sunlight illuminates their intense and fascinating faces.

I have never seen a Galah Cockatoo before and what a lovely introduction to this beautiful bird! The quality of light and level of detail in her feathers are perfectly on point. This is my new favorite animal portrait! Her colors are simply lovely, I can't wait to see one in person someday! Well done, Melissa!
