Karakoram wonderland

1 year, 8 months

Walking toward Hoper village at the end of the spectacular Nagar Valley. Nagar was formerly an independent princely state from the 14th to the late 20th century, although it was formally controlled by Kashmir, then the British, and Pakistan until the Mir was forced to abdicate in 1974. The village lies at an altitude of over 8000ft and the population are predominantly Shia Muslims. It was a long day of trekking and hitchhiking on local tractors and vans to explore this area. - Gilgit-Baltistan,
