Patience

1 year, 10 months

Getting close to kingfishers without disturbing their habitat is a challenge at the best of times. Malchite kingfishers are small kingfishers, growing to a maximum size of around 13 cm (5.1 in) in length. Patience, luck and perserverance were key in getting this photo, as following around 3 hours of waiting, eventually this bird arrived to survey the lake. Sadly, he did not catch anything - this time.
