Regal Golden Crown

2 years, 1 month

This beauty is known as the black crowned crane, but can also be identified as the dark, Sudan, or the West African crowned crane. Their wetlands home is being threatened by the loss of their habitat. Most notable trait is the golden feathers that adorn the head and can be identified by slate-grey to black plumage with white feather on the leading edge of wings. A small red pouch hangs under the chin that allows the bird to emit booming low sounds.
