Dragon Boat Racing
2 years, 4 monthsThe 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese calendar is known as Dragon Boat festival, which commemorates the death of Qu Yuan (c. 340–278 BC). People believed that they could save Qu or retrieve his dead body by racing their boats out. Dragon boat races are held every year in Hong Kong, only Hong Kong can transform this Chinese custom into a modern and competitive team sport. The races are launched in many districts, crowds of Hongkongers gather in riversides to cheer the teams on.
