Emperor parent and chick

2 years, 4 months

An emperor penguin and its 10 week old chick at Gould Bay, Weddell Sea, Antarctica. These penguins are part of a colony of 8,000 individuals in Gould Bay. Usually noisy and full of movement, this is a rare moment of a parent and child isolated from the rest of the colony, just standing still. his was my third trip to Antarctica, and the first camping on the sea ice. Each trip was a life changer that exposed me to the beauty of life without the interference of humans.
