Ghughuti is a bird known as messenger of love and affection in the folklore of Gharwal and Kumaon hills in the Himalayas known as Uttarakhand. She is known for her melodious songs that evoke a nostalgia in the heart of a bride of her folks back in home as she misses them forever more. A common sight in Uttarakhand, Ghughuti is a legend in her own right. Here she is posing for the National Geographic.
