Zajednica is a Serbian word that means "community," but is also used to describe households where many generations live under one roof. In 2017, I was invited to celebrate Christmas with a family in the village of Velika Drenova. I grew up celebrating Serbian Orthodox Christmas, but it was never quite like this. Here, Milica Miletić holds her great-grandson Kosta. They represent four generations of the Miletić family present on Christmas Day.
